Venting

I. All Material - Acrylic, Vinyl, Silicones

1. start with pressure vent; work your way up
2. rest mold on a hard surface
3. drill slowly using in and out motion
4. drill 1/2 from canal side, then 1/2 from concha side
5. drill SAV's to depth of bit only
6. clean out all vents after drilling; may have material residue;
    use smaller bit

II. Silicone and Vinyl

1. use reamer or tube puller metal tip to start a guide bore;
    by hand  - not with power motor
2. grip mold firmer when drilling from canal side due
    to softness of material.

Don't
1. open or bell bores larger than originally fabricated - material
    tends to split or tear, as well as potential skin loss!

Uniform Vents

There are three basic sizes: .03, .06, .09 These can be supplied providing that the canal is large enough to accommodate tubing and vent. Make sure vent is never blocked by tubing and is free of glue. If a pressure vent, a pinhole vent, or a small vent is requested, the mold will be given .03 size.

Select-A-Vent (SAV)

These are made of a soft material. They can be used in any material and have the advantage of the entire range of vent sizes being included with each request. SAV's are not glued into place.
